The Trad Jazz Youth Band Festival (TJYBF) is pleased to be granting these festival awards and scholarships that will be announced at the Evening Showcase and Awards Concert. Awards are subject to change based on available funding.
Awards
2 Music Lesson Awards
$250 value ea.

elementary or middle school student and
1 high school recipient
Funded by the STJS Foundation Award Medallions
For Best Banjo/Guitar, Bass/Tuba, Clarinet/Sax, Drums, Piano, Trombone, Trumpet, and Vocals in each of the four divisions.
IAJE Talent Citations
To Outstanding Soloists from ensembles directed by members of IAJE (International Assoc. for Jazz Education)
Scholarships
Kenton O. Smith Traditional Jazz College Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship for the Jazz Club/ Private Division;
$1,000 scholarship for the College Division

STJS Trad Jazz Camp
(YOUTH: last week in July; ADULT: first week in August)
2 Full-Scholarships ($575 value ea.) to YOUTH Trad. Jazz Camp
for young musicians (12-18 years of age):
1 middle school student and
1 high school student.
(Funded by the STJS Foundation.)
1 Full Scholarship ($750 value) to ADULT Trad Jazz Camp
for a college student (age 19, sophomore or older).
Funded by raffle ticket donations at STJS monthly "Jazz Sunday" concerts.

Sac. State Jazz Camp
(early July)
3 Partial-tuition Scholarships ($150 each) to the Sac State Summer Jazz Camp, awarded by Sacramento State University.
1 IAJE Partial-tuition Scholarship ($150 value) to Sac State Summer Jazz Camp, awarded by IAJE.
(Commuter tuition = $395, resident tuition = $865 for 2008)
